This is a very passionate depiction of Saint Peter showing all classical features. The statue is hand carved in maple wood (24" and up in Linden wood) and hand painted by professional artists. Elegant design with great care for detail. Saint Peter is usually depicted as an elderly man holding a key and a book. Saint Peter, also known as Simon Peter or Cephas, was the first pope, Prince of the Apostles, and founder, with Saint Paul, of the see of Rome. He was the brother of Saint Andrew the Apostle who led him to Christ. It is because of Peter's confession of faith in Jesus as Messiah that Jesus gave him the nickname of "rock" and stated that it was upon the rock of Peter`s faith that the Church would rise (Matthew 16:18).

Peter was martyred for his Faith in the year 64 in Rome.
