Hand carved in Maple wood and hand painted by professional artists. Made in Italy. Born in Italy, Charles was sent to a Benedictine abbey at the age of twelve. His Uncle was the pope and he decided to make him the Secretary of State and Pius' legate. When his beloved brother died, he decided to dedicate his life to God and was ordained a priest. Later on, he was made bishop and then cardinal archbishop of Milan from 1564 until 1584. He fought against the Protestant Reformation and had great influence on the Counter- Reformation. He even introduced seminaries for the education of the clergy. Charles Borromeo died of a fever in 1584.
