Biography of Hugh of Cluny:
Hugh of Cluny was born in 1024 as the eldest son of Count of Semur and entered the Cluny Abbey at the young age of fifteen. Only five years later, he was ordained priest and then at the age of twenty five, elected abbot. He was a great supporter of reforms and served as a papal legate. He helped Pope Nicholas II and later Pope Gregory VIII. Furthermore, he founded a hospital for lepers. He died in 1120 after having served as abbot for about 60 years.
