BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Stanislaus of Kraków was the Bishop of Kraków and one of Poland's most significant saints. Born around 1030, he studied in Gniezno and possibly in Paris. In 1072, he was appointed Bishop of Kraków and strongly supported church reforms, which led to a conflict with King Boleslaw II. The king ultimately had him murdered during a mass in 1079. Saint Stanislaus was canonized by Pope Innocent IV in 1253 and remains one of Poland's patron saints.
