Biography of St. Melania:
St. Melania was born into a noble family that forced her at 13 years to marry Pianianus, a 17- year-old. The couple had two children who died shortly after birth. Because Melania risked her life at the birth of her second child, the couple decided to keep abstinent. Melania's husband became more and more religious. Melania sold everything they had to free slaves and to help the poor. After several pilgrimages, the couple moved to the Holy Land, where Melania lived as a hermit after his death.
