During an uprising the Pope sent St. Philip to negotiate with Peregrine Laziosi. During negotiations, Peregrine struck Philip in the face. Surprisingly, instead of striking back, Philipp offered him the second cheek. This action impressed Peregrine so much that he was instantly converted to Catholicism. When he was diagnosed with cancer and amputation seemed the only solution,  he spent the night before the operation in prayer. The next day, he was miraculously healed.
