Saint Peter of Verona Figurine Models
Imagery and Representation: shown as a Dominican friar with a knife, book and wound on his head. Hand carved in Maple wood and hand painted by professional artists. Made in Italy. Peter was born in 1205 in the Italian city of Verona to heretical parents. He was nevertheless educated at a Catholic school and later attended the University of Bologna. During his studies, he entered the Dominican Order and developed into a great preacher. In 1234, he was appointed inquisitor of Northern Italy. Peter of Verona was murdered by members of a heretical sect in 1252 while returning from Como and canonized one year after, despite his parent's belief.

When did St. John of the Cross live: 1542 - 1591
Biography:
John was born as the third son to a family of weavers in 1542. After being educated at the Jesuits-college, he entered the order of the Carmelites and was later ordained. John was captured by some friars of his order, because he wanted to renew the rules of his order. He was tortured and blamed for false accusations, couldn't attend mass anymore. Fortunately, thanks to the guidance of the Holy Virgin, he escaped to a convent of Theresa of Avila. Later on he became rector of the college in Baeza, the prior of a monastery in Granada. St. John of the Cross is also known for his writings.
