Biography of St. Teresa:
Teresa was one of the leading figures of the Catholic Counter-Reformation and is one of the 33 Doctors of the Church. After she had had a mysterious disease, which completely paralyzed her, she retired to the convent. Here Teresa was able to regain motor function in a prodigious way. St. Teresa was firmly convinced that God in the person of Jesus Christ inspired her in her work to reform the Carmelite Order. She died on the day, when the first countries of Europe passed from the Julian calendar to that Gregorian.
