Biography of St. Alexndra of Egypt:
Alexandra, who was born in Alexandria, was a hermit who had locked herself in a kind of tomb with a simple window for food already in young years. It is said that Alexandra did this in order to escape the temptations of a man, she wanted to save her soul. She spent the most time praying, working and meditating on the lives of important prophets, apostles and martyrs. This form of extreme life caused her death 10 years after the beginning of her imprisonment.
All the facts about Alexandra's life have been handed down from Melania the Younger, a Roman matron that had visited her several times.
