St. Beatrice was born in Portugal. She was born into a very noble family. When she was 21, she was chosen to be the Maid of Honor to Queen Isabella de Castile in Toledo.  Because of her bad luck in love and several courtly intrigues, she entered the Dominican Convent of Santo Domingo in Toledo in 1453. She gave all her belongings to the poor and lived there without vows for about 30 years. In 1484 she founded the Order of the Immaculate Conception, the Conceptionists. They are widely spread in Latin countries and South America. Beatrice died in 1491 in Spain.
