Patroness of the Wilton Abbey

St Edith was born in 961. She was born to King Edgar of England and Wulfrida. She was brought to WIlton Abbey when she was very young, she became educated there and became a nun when she turned 15. Due to the death of her half-brother Edward, she was offered the crown of England but refused to become queen. Instead, she built a church at Wilton, which was dedicated to St. Denis. Saint Edith of Wilton died on September 15th 984 from a fatal illness.
