Biography of Saint Tatiana:
Tatiana was a roman martyr in the 3rd century, during the reign of Emperor Alexander Severus. Apparently, she was born to a Roman civil servant who was secretly Christian. Tatiana grew up with the Christian faith and she became a deaconess. Back then, this was very dangerous. In fact, the jurist Ulpian took her hostage and tried to force her to make a sacrifice to Apollo. Her prayers where heard and the statue and part of the temple of Apollo were destroyed by an earthquake. Later on, she was blinded and tortured for two days before being brought to a circus and thrown into the pit with a hungry lion. Surprisingly, the lion did not even touch her. This triggered her death sentence: she was beheaded with on January 12th.
