Biography of St. Camillo de Lellis:
St. Camillus de Lellis was an addicted Italian gambler who fought against the Turks. Because he was broke, he became a Capuchin novice. He especially cared for the sick and soon became director of the St. Giacomo Hospital in Rome. After his ordination to the priesthood, he founded his own congregation with two companions, called the Ministers of the Sick. After having preached to the sick of several hospitals and having founded a new house in Naples, he retired because of health issues. He died in 1607 and was canonized in 1746.
