This is an awesome depiction of Saint George carved in Maple wood and hand painted in oil colors. The realism of this figurine is truly stunning. You can even see the veins of the horse. The sculpture shows all classical features with complete follow through in detail. Absolutely breath-taking.

After confessing his faith in Christ he was tortured and jailed. He had a vision of God who predicted seven years of torment, three times the death and three times the resurrection.

Biography of St. George:
St. George, holy knight and martyr of Christ, has a widespread cult. Son of Gerontius the polychronic, he was educated religiously until he entered the military service. St. George had a generous heart and he distributed the goods to the poor people. When he confessed his faith in Christ, St. George was subjected to the most atrocious tortures and finally jailed. Here he had a vision of the God, who predicted him seven years of torment, three times the death and three times the resurrection. The legend sees him as a knight saving the Princess of Cappadocia.
