Biography of St. Louis of France:
Louis was born in Poissy(France) in 1214 as the son of Louis VIII and Blanche. As his father died when he was only 12 years old, his mother became regent of the kingdom. In 1234, Louis married Margaret, the daughter of the Count of Provence and only two years later, he became king. During a crusade, he was taken prisoner but he could return to France just a few months later. During another crusade, he suffered from a pestilence in Carthage ( Tunisia) and died in 1270.
Patronage: St. Louis is patron saint of Tertiaries, Berlin, Munich, Saarbrücken, Saarlouis, Paris, Poissy and all the places in France called after him.
