Saint Othmar with Grapes Figurine Models

Symbols and Imagery: shown as an Abbot with grapes in accordance with the legend. According to the legend, the men who removed his body from its original grave were very thirsty. No matter how much wine they drank, the barrell never emptied. Hand carved in Maple wood and hand painted by professional artists. Made in Italy. Othmar was born in 689 and became a monk and then priest before being appointed abbot of the Benedictine Abbey of St. Gall. He rebuilt the hermitage of the Irish monk Saint Gall, and is often referred to as the founder of the monastery. It is said  that he also built the school of the abbey and cared for the sick and poor by building an almshouse and a hospital. Othmar died in exile on the island of Werd in Lake Constance, where he had to flee after false accusations were made by two neighboring nobles. When his body was removed from its original grave, it was completely intact.
