When did St. Arnold Janssen live: in the nineteenth century
Biography:
Arnold was born in 1837 in the Rhineland and ordained priest at the age of 24 years. Initially, he worked as a teacher until he gave up his job in 1878 and founded a Christian magazine. He particularly strived toward the diffusion of Catholic folk literature. A few years later he founded the Mission House Sankt Michael in Steyl. From there, he founded numerous other mission houses, whose missionaries were sent into the whole world. Next, he founded the Society of the Divine Word Missionaries, called the cloistered nuns. Arnold died on 15 January 1909 and was spoken holy in 2003.
