Biography:
Barnabas was an early Christian born in Cyprus under the name Joseph. Together with Paul the Apostle, he went on several missionary journeys, converted many and participated in the Council of Jerusalem. He is named an apostle in Acts 14:14 and Paul mentioned him in his epistles. It is not certain where and when Barnabas died, but it is believed that he was martyred in cyprus. He is the founder of the Cypriot Orthodox Church .
