Biography of St. Benedict of Nursia:
Benedict was born in Nursia (Italy) in 480 and his sister was Scholastica. He lived as a hermit for three years but because of his holiness, he was asked to be the abbot of a community of monks. Benedict accepted but soon noticed that the monks were immoral and wanted to poison him, so he decided to return to his hermitage. At the age of 50, he founded a monastery at Monte Cassino and wrote the "Rule of St. Benedict" which is still nowadays followed by benedictine monks.
