BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Brigid, born in Finsta (Sweden), already had mystical visions in her youth, which had a decisive influence on her. At the age of 13, she entered a marriage with Ulf Gudmarsson, which resulted in eight children, including Catherine of Sweden. Following a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in 1341, during which Ulf fell ill and died shortly afterwards, Brigid decided to devote her life entirely to God's service. In 1346, she founded the Vadstena convent, which later became the center of theOrder of the Most Holy Savior (Birgittines), which she also founded. The order emphasized the poverty, chastity and obedience of its members. Over the years, she had numerous meticulously documented visions, which were published post mortem under the name "Revelationes" and translated into several languages.
