Patron saint of the diocese of Passau and in all distress
Brother Conrad was born as Carl Birndorfer in 1918 in Parzham (Germany). In 1848, he became a Capuchin lay brother and served as a porter and doorkeeper for about 40 years at the shrine of Our Lady of Altötting. Apparently, he was very wise and holy and dedicated most of his time to praying. As a porter, he cared for the people of the town Partham and listened to their problems. He is said to have had the gift of prophecy and reading people's hearts. Conrad died in 1894.
