Patron saint of the possessed and against the plague
Bruno of Cologne came from a noble family and became head of the cathedral school of Reims after having completed his studies in the cathedral school of Cologne. But soon he started living as a hermit and met six companions. Especially Hugh of Grenoble helped him getting set up in the wild "Chartreuse", a secluded spot. There, they built seven barracks where the seven companions lived and they often came together for prayer. Later on, Bruno was selected as advisor to the Pope Urban II, his former student. He supported him in founding a monastery in Grenoble and one in Calabria.
