Edward was born to King Ethelerd Iland Emma. Edward was sent to Normandy with his mother when the Danes invaded England. Canute took over and became King. After the death of his brother, Edward returned to England to take back his crown. In 1044, he married Edith. His reign was a time filled by good rules and abolishment of odious taxes. Edward founded St. Peter's Abbey at Westminster, where he was later buried. He died in London in 1161.
