When did St. Achatius live: Third century

Biography of St. Achatius:
St. Achatius, born in Cappadocia, was a centurion in the Roman troops during the Emperors Diocletian and Maximian. When he refused to sacrifice to gods, the commanding officer accused him of having rejected the pagan faith. He had courageously suffered tortures and torments which were followed by the decapitation.

The sculptures represent St. Achatius with the palm, the crown of thorns and the Roman soldier' s armor.

Patronage St. Achatius: Patron of Squillace, of Guardavalle, soldiers and dying people. He is also remembered as the protector of the troops and is invoked against headaches.
