Feastday St. Francis of Assisi: October the 4thWhen did St. Francis live: 1181 - 1228 a.C.
Biography of St. Francis of Assisi:
Francis was born in Assisi, as a son of a merchant, as a young man aspired to enter the town gentry. Hence the participation in the war against Perugia and the attempt to move towards Puglia to attend the crusade. He was stopped by a divine voice told him to rebuild the Church. And Francis obeyed, abandoned the family and friends, conducted for some years a life of penance and solitude in total poverty. He began to preach the Gospel in the city and asked for approval to the Pope about his choice of life. Then wandered through the streets and squares of Italy, where crowds flocked to him. Later received the young Clare who started the second Franciscan order, and founded a third order for those who wanted to live as penitents, with rules that are appropriate for the laity. He died in the night between 3 and 4 October 1228. Francis is one of the great figures of humanity that speaks to every generation. Its charm comes from the great love for Jesus and for the whole creation of God.
