Biography of St. Leopold:
Leopold was born in 1073 in Austria and succeeded his father as military governor of Austria at the age of twenty-three. In 1106, he married Henry IV's daughter with whom he had eighteen children and founded three monasteries as well as fostered the development of important Austrian cities. In the year 1125, Leopold refused to become Emperor upon the death of his brother in law and died in 1135 in one of the monasteries he has founded. In 1663, Leopold was declared patron saint of Austria and in 1486, he was canonized by Pope Innocent.
