with the cross and the dragon that appeared to her after she was tortured.
Margaret was the daughter of a pagan priest. She converted to christianity when she was 14 years old. Tending the sheep, Olybrius saw her, infatuated with her beauty, he charged her with being a Christian.
St. Margareth was tortured and according to the legend she met a dragon while she was in prison. The dragon swallowed her, but the cross she carried in her hands irritated the dragon's coat so that he disgorged her. Eventually St. Margareth was beheaded.
