Meinrad entered the Monastery of Reichenau at the age of five and was ordained priest at the age of twenty five. In 824, he became teacher but decided shortly after to live as a hermit. Meinrad was famous for his austerity. He was murdered by two robbers who he had hosted in his hermitage and had offered them bread.
