Biography:
St. Rosalia was born in Sicily in 1100 as the daughter of Sinibald, Lord of Roses and Quisquinia. It is believed that she might have been related to Great Charlemagne. Already at a young age, she turned away from earthly desires in order to follow God. She became a nun but retired to a cave before transferring her abode to Mount Pellegrino where she lived in complete isolation in a little cave. She is said to have appeared after her death in 1160 first to a sick woman, then to a hunter to whom she showed where her remains were.
