Patron Saint of El Hatillo, Palermo and against plague
St Rosalia was born in 1100 in Sicily. She was the daughter of the Lord of Roses. She could possibly have been related to Charlemagne. She turned towards God at a young age. She became a nun but retired to a cave before transferring her abode to Mount Pellegrino where she lived in complete isolation in a little cave. She is said to have appeared after her death in 1160 first to a sick woman, then to a hunter to whom she showed where her remains were.
