When did St. Stephen live: during the first century
According to the New Testament and the book Acts of the Apostles, Stephen was made, together with six others, deacon by the apostles of Jesus who needed help to care for the widows and the poor. It is said, that Stephen worked many miracles and that his wisdom and holiness lead many people to Christianity, which angered the enemies of the Church of Jesus.
