Saint Thomas the Apostle is the patron saint of our marriage on July 3rd. I placed the statue on a shelf next to our wedding photo.

Very carefully crafted statue to add to my collection of Apostles! The carpenter's rule shows his work and the spear in hand shows his form of martyrdom. Lovely stained wood tones to enhance the clothing.

When did St. Thomas live: 1st century AD
Biography:
According to the bible, St. Thomas was a Jew who had become one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus. Thomas questioned Jesus' resurrection and later made a confession of faith after having seen and touched Jesus's wounds. It is said that after the death of Jesus, he travelled as far as India and along the way preached the Good News to there Persians and Medes. He was eventually martyred on the 21st of December 72 A.D. His relicts are nowadays in the Italian region Abruzzo.
