According to the bible, St. Thomas was a Jew who had become one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus. Thomas questioned Jesus' resurrection and later made a confession of faith after having seen and touched Jesus's wounds. It is said that after the death of Jesus, he travelled as far as India and along the way preached the Good News to there Persians and Medes. He was eventually martyred on the 21st of December 72 A.D.
