Representation and portrayal: shown as a shepherd with sheep and shepherd's shovel. Hand carved in Maple wood and hand painted by professional artists. Made in Italy. Born in 554, Wendelin is the son of the King of Scotland. He refused his life as a prince, due to his educator who was a Bishop, and devoted his life to God. He lived as a hermit in Germany, and then began to tend sheep for a wealthy man who built a chapel in his honor. He established the Tholey Abbey of which he became abbot.

Patron Saint of Shepherds, farmers, cattle, prosperous weather, good harvest, nature and environmental protection.

Biography of St. Wendelin:
Wendelin was born in 554 as the son of the King of Scotland. He was educated by a bishop and decided to refuse his life as a prince and instead devote his life to God. After a pilgrimage to Rome, he lived as a hermit in Germany for a while. Then, he started tending sheep for a wealthy man, who built a chapel in his honor. There, Wendelin established the Tholey Abbey of which he became abbot. Wendelin died in 617 in Tholey.
