Symbol and Portrayal: Shown as a hermit with a cross and a little bell, trunk at his feet as a symbol for his love of nature and a doe-head.
St. Wulmar was born near Boulogne, France and entered a monastery of Hautmont in France after the separation from his wife. Later on, he retired as a hermit. In the forest, he then built the monastery of St-Pierre in Samer and the convent of Ste-Marie-aux-Bois in Wierre in Picardy. He became abbot of both and died in 697 in Samer, France.
